What Instagram content can I download?

Video posts (/p/ links that contain video), Reels (/reel/ and /reels/), and IGTV (/tv/). Image-only posts, Stories, and Highlights are not currently supported.

Can I download from private Instagram accounts?

No. Only publicly accessible posts can be downloaded. Private accounts, Stories visible only to followers, and content behind login are not accessible from any third-party service.

Will there be a watermark?

No. We fetch the original file Instagram stores on its CDN — before any overlay is composited. The result is the clean, uploader-source version, exactly as it appears in Instagram's own player when viewed outside the app.

What video quality do I get?

The highest resolution Instagram has available for that post — typically 720p or 1080p, matching what the uploader posted. We don't transcode or re-compress.

Metadata fetch takes 2–6 seconds. The actual file download depends on your internet speed. Most Instagram Reels are 3–20MB and download in a few seconds on a normal connection.

Do you store my downloads?

Why use an Instagram downloader?

Instagram doesn't provide a native way to download Reels or video posts to your device. The in-app Save feature only bookmarks content inside Instagram — it doesn't give you a file. This tool fetches the original video file from Instagram's CDN and delivers it directly to your browser, in the highest quality available. Perfect for saving your own content, archiving references for research, or watching offline on a plane.

What formats work

Any public Instagram URL that contains a video will work. That includes: regular video posts (instagram.com/p/CODE/), Reels (instagram.com/reel/CODE/ and instagram.com/reels/CODE/), IGTV (instagram.com/tv/CODE/), and short links (instagr.am/...). Image-only carousels are not supported by this downloader — only video content.

How it works

When you paste a link, our backend asks Instagram for the post's metadata using a preview-user-agent strategy, extracts the highest-quality video CDN URL, and signs it with a time-limited HMAC. The result is a direct download URL that streams from Instagram through our proxy to your browser. The whole process takes 2–6 seconds and nothing is stored on our servers.
